　　以五十年代美国流行乐坛为背景的歌唱片，是当时着名热门音乐制作人鲍卜马库西的戏剧化传记故事，由雷．夏基主演。主角本来想成为歌坛偶像，但自觉长相不够英俊，乃转入幕后工作，不断制造和推动偶像，藉此达成个人的心愿。导演泰勒以流畅手法呈现流行音乐工业幕后运作状况，从其中一些偶像可以看出五十年代红星弗兰基．阿互隆等人的影子，对资深西洋乐迷应可增加怀旧的乐趣，可惜本片的配乐的插曲不够精彩，也未能成功地掌握当代风味。
