　　有一次他居然意外发明了一种特殊物质，是一种弹性非常好的“会飞橡皮”（Flying Rubber），它可以使各种物品摆脱地心引力的限制，因此他就把这种奇特的物质取名为“Flubber”。然而却没人对这玩意儿有兴趣，除了一个心怀不轨的商人Alonzo Hawk之外，他处心积虑要夺得这神奇发明。当布莱纳德教授拿着研究成果“飞橡”向未婚妻解释时，生气的未婚妻不相信他说的话，于是他决定用行动来向她证明。他用“飞橡”帮助自己学校的篮球队实现惊天大逆转，驾驶T型老爷车在华盛顿上空翱翔，并且从商业阴谋中拯救了自己的大学……
